The Key Person has special responsibilities for working with a small number of children, giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for and building relationships with their parents. Each child will be assigned a Key Person who helps ensure that care is tailored to meet their individual needs and to help them become familiar and confident with the setting. When children feel happy and secure, they are confident to explore and to try out new things.
Maebrooke Day Nursery values the importance of children’s attachments with Key Persons and has strong links between home and nursery. Children feel that they are known and understood and staff know in detail about children’s interests and activities. Careful records of the child’s development and progress are created and shared with parents, the child, the Key Person and other professionals as necessary.
