Babies and Early 2's

Our Baby & Early 2’s Room caters for children aged 0-30 months with a maximum capacity of 18 children. We do cap this to 12 children to ensure the space is comfortable for staff & children.

The room has a large laminate area with both ends of the room having heavy duty vinyl. The one end of the room has a kitchen area where we prepare bottle feeds & sterilise any equipment. Having the kitchen facility ensures that we can adopt young children’s individual feeding routines from home with minimal disruption. The room has direct access to the changing/toileting area and where possible the child's keyworker will meet the care needs of their children.

The Baby & Early 2’s Room offers a selection of activities to meet the needs of each individual child. Our main focus within this room is the prime areas of PSED, CL & PD.
After lunch we use the room as the sleep room for all of the children that sleep throughout their day at nursery, this is to ensure a calming and quieter environment in which children can rest or sleep. Young children who do not sleep can continue to explore focussed activities & free play.

There are 2 members of staff working in this room. The Room Leader holds a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies and the other member of staff holds a Level 2 qualification & is working towards her Level 3. The Room Leader has 10 years’ experience of working with babies & young children in nursery settings and the other staff member has 2 years’ experience. Both have completed additional training focussed on caring for babies & young children including ‘Outstanding Baby Rooms’ & ‘Tuning in to Toddlers’.
