Toddler & Rising 3’s Room

Our Toddler & Rising 3’s Room caters for 16 children from 30 months up until 42 months old. This group share the changing facilities with the Babies & Early 2’s. Potty training usually begins within this group; the children have access to the low level toilets and sinks. Where possible the children are encouraged to develop their independence and self-help skills through hand washing before and after meal times as well as after toileting routines.

The room incorporates the seven areas of learning through planned activities, with a focus on the prime areas. The role play corner is currently an aquarium and will be changed each term to develop the children's understanding of the world around them.

The Toddlers & Rising 3’s are encouraged to be independent at mealtimes but a familiar member of staff is on hand to help should they need it.

Our Room Leader holds a Level 3 qualification and is hoping to enrol onto her foundation degree. She has 12 years’ experience of working in nursery settings and is a mother to 2 young children. She has recently completed some training focussing on emotional well-being and leading on learning. The room leader is supported by an apprentice who is working towards her level 2. She has worked at the setting for almost a year now and has taken on a small group of key children. She is based in Toddler Room full time to ensure that she can be appropriately supported in delivering high quality care and teaching to this specific age range. She has attended CPD courses such as planning, observation & assessment and a workshop focussing on the integrated review for 2 year olds.
